Are there girls that exist who truly think they’re pretty? I just feel like everyone around me is beautiful, and I’m this pale, frumpy, blob of gross, and it makes me so…depressed. Am I normal? Does everyone feel this way too? Do guys feel this way?
Blargh. I’m so annoyingly human.

When you’re living in a house of 19 to 24 year-old (Christian!) girls, you tend to hear this phrase a lot.
Guys, you’d be surprised, horrified even, at how much we objectify you.
And lately, (personal confession time) I feel like I’m being pressured to follow suit. Like, if I don’t look at a male celebrity and voice my opinion that he’s “soooo attractive” and start talking about his arms, then my feminine sexuality is somehow lessened.
But…this is wrong! First of all, I’m not single! I would be broken-hearted if I found out Ross spoke this way about women when I wasn’t around. Non-single ladies, what makes you think this is okay for you to do, when you panic at the thought of your husband or boyfriend doing it? Double standards are for morons and selfish people. If you don’t wish to be either of those, then stop.
Secondly, and this is my main point, it feels innately backwards talking like this about guys when I know that they are not someone who I admire spiritually. I just can’t seem to cross that mental barrier of thinking “yeah, I know they don’t love Jesus, but who cares, they’re really hot!” Why do we think just because we are female and we supposedly “don’t sexually sin like men do” (shut up, we do), we can objectify men as much as we please to prove our womanliness? What sort of logic is that? Why don’t we feel the need to guard our hearts? It’s so important that we do!
Why is the hierarchy: “physical attractiveness”, “things we have in common”, then maybe “does he love Jesus”? In my opinion, it should be flipped upside down.
I’m not going to lie and say that I don’t notice male attractiveness at all and have never lusted after men for purely physical reasons. But I can honestly say that I just don’t have a desire to do that anymore. What really gets my heart pumping is when a guy is on fire for Jesus in a manly way (if you don’t know what I mean by “manly way,” research biblical manliness). Seriously. That is the truth. And I wish more of my fellow Christian women would feel the same. Instead, I would love to hear them say, “yeah, I know he doesn’t have Superman’s body, but who cares, he loves Jesus!”

I got low. I didn’t see an end so I put a bullet in my mouth and the other guy spit it out.
Love me some Hulk. Favorite Avenger thus far.
